What personally identifiable information we collect and how we collect it
We collect aggregate information site-wide, including anonymous site stats. We also log domain names and/or IP addresses. We may set cookies on your computer to facilitate your use of the eLab Web site. Recent versions of most browsers let you easily see and control cookies. We do not use cookies to collect personally identifiable information. On certain pages such as the eLab Panel, the Virtual Lab, and eLib, you have the option of providing us with your name, email address, and some demographic information. This personal information is only gathered by eLab with your express knowledge and active consent. If you have joined the eLab Panel, you may be contacted to participate in an online experiment or survey. Your informed consent will always be obtained prior to your participation in these experiments or surveys, and the information collected will be subject to this privacy policy.

All information you provide to eLab is collected using secure server pages. Any passwords you provide that are required to access eLab services (for example eLib and the eLab panel) are stored as encrypted.

How the information is used
In some cases, we may use the information you give us to tailor your Web experience on the eLab site, generate anonymous statistics, or to contact you via email (e.g. to send you information you may have requested about eLab’s activities). The examples of eLab activities for which you can elect to receive information include:

  1. surveys and experiments for which you have agreed to participate and have been randomly selected
  2. new eLab services that we develop over time (i.e. a newsletter).
However, you will not actually receive these services unless you choose to do so. In other words, eLab adheres to an opt-in privacy policy.

Who we share your information with
eLab does not share your contact information with other third parties. If eLab were to share your information, this would only operate on an opt-in basis (i.e. your information will not be shared in this way unless you personally explicitly allow it.)

What choices are available to you regarding collection, use and distribution of the information
Our policy is that you may opt out of any use by us of information you have provided to us (and in fact you have to opt in voluntarily for any such use to happen in the first place.) Our delete/deactivate policy is the same as our opt-out policy - if you want to be removed from our panel roster, mailing lists or other databases, simply fill out the form in the applicable section.

Your consent to this Agreement
By using the eLab Web site and registering for services such as the eLab Panel, you consent to the collection and use of information by eLab as specified above. If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on this page so that you are always aware of what information we collect and how we use it.
